RELATIONSHIP THERAPY IN FRANKLIN
Supporting Couples & Families in all of their most important relationships
Are you a spouse or parent feeling lost and disconnected because your relationships have become so hard?
Your relationships aren’t where you want them to be. The simplest things feel so much harder than they should, and you feel like you’re at a loss because everything you’ve tried just hasn’t worked. …and you’ve tried a lot.
As a result, the lack of connection in your most important relationships leaves you feeling empty and defeated.
But does it stop there? How is the lack of connection interfering with other areas of your life? Do the struggles at home impact your ability to show up for friends? Does work feel like a more challenging balance because what’s happening at home is getting the best of you? And what about you? What’s left for you at the end of the day when you’re feeling exhausted and worn out because it’s just gotten so ….. hard.
Marriage and Family Therapists look at problems through the lens of a system. Each member of the system impacts and is impacted by the other members of the system. It’s a constant spinning loop; sometimes, we get stuck in that cycle. I help family members understand their cycles and improve communication and interaction patterns within the family unit.
If you’re tired of feeling caught in the cycle, Relationship Therapy can help you:
Heal from old wounds & regain connection
Improve communication and strengthen Relationships
Increase conflict resolution and promote Problem-Solving
Encourage healthy Boundaries
Improve Parenting & Co-Parenting Skills
how i can help
It IS possible to regain that connection and for things to feel easier again

You can have a sense of fulfillment and connection again. You can change how you show up to life and your relationships, and you can help promote change and resolution within your home so it doesn’t feel so hard.

SPACE is a treatment for your child, delivered through the parent-child relationship. Any improvement in your own mental health is just a bonus!
SPACE is a strategy for parenting anxious children, developed and researched by experts at the Yale Child Study Center. Learning SPACE takes 10-12 sessions of working with a SPACE-trained provider who can teach you what changes to make. Successful SPACE treatment results in changes to your child’s anxiety. The surprising part of SPACE is that you, the parent, will be the one coming to therapy. But it isn’t treatment for you!
PCIT is an evidence-based, short-term treatment designed to help young children with highly disruptive behavior learn to control their frustration.
In PCIT, we work with each parent to strengthen their relationship with their child and build their confidence and ability to effectively guide and direct their child’s behavior, set limits, calmly discipline, and restore positive feelings to their interactions. PCIT treats the parent, the child, and, most importantly, their interactions.
Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) is useful for couples caught in a never-ending battle with the same outcome every time where both parties feel distanced from the other. One of EFT's goals is to create a secure emotional bond between you and your partner.
EFT is best known as a relevant, tested and proven couples intervention to change our connection to both the self and key relationships. It is the gold standard, empirically validated intervention with couples and has been validated by over 30 years of empirical research, highlighting that 70%-75% of couples move from distress to recovery showing significant improvements in their relationships.

Common questions about Relationship Therapy:
-
That’s okay! Together, we can work to understand the problematic cycles that perpetuate in your relationship and give you specific tools to help change those cycles. Typically, we see if one person starts to make shifts, the relationship itself starts to change some. Families, including couples, change one interaction at a time.
-
After a thorough intake, we’ll assess the needs and goals of your situation and devise a plan to hit to the goals. For co-parenting clients, each parent is expected to attend and participate in the intake & following sessions. It is a collaborative process with the end goal in mind…happy, healthy kiddos.

SPACE is a parent-based protocol, meaning that the children do not attend the sessions. SPACE has been tested and found to be effective in treating children and adolescents with separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, fears and phobias, panic disorder, and OCD. The protocol does require a commitment to attend weekly for 10-12 weeks. And no, you didn’t cause your child’s anxiety, but you can help reduce it! The best first step is to schedule a free consultation to discuss the protocol and see if it’s right for you.

PCIT is an evidenced-based protocol where both caregiver (s) and child attend therapy. A full intake will determine the best approach. PCIT is typically best for kids with aggressive behaviors (physical or verbal) or a child going through difficult transitions outside the typical developmental stage. The protocol does require a commitment to attend weekly for 12-20 weeks and is best suited for children between the ages of 2-7 years old. The best first step is to schedule a free consultation to discuss the protocol and see if it’s right for you.
